This is my first Easter far from home, however, I do not have to complain. I found a Hungarian speaking protestant church not far from here and I attended the service and it was just great. And during the service I thought I have seen some know face, however, I was not so sure but at the end she was the one (I won't disclose her name, I will use only the initials: A. B). An old schoolmate from my high school spent some days here and she attended the same service. It was just great to see somebody from your past. Lovely people all these Hungarians around here. I even got an invitation for a ball, a Hungarian one.
The day ended up in a Hungarian-Mexican family, with some delicious food (even vinetta I mean home made egg plants), cake and some lovely kids and people. It was a great day! I should be grateful!
I lined up. Starting from today I am a white collar guy with a badge. Indeed, I work work one of the biggest organization in US, more specifically for National Institute of Health (NIH) on a huge campus in Bethesda, MD. Of course this one belongs to US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
I can tell you is big. At least 60 buildings in the same campus. There is a shuttle between the different buildings. Simply amazing. I did not checked but somebody told me some 28,000 people work here.
In order to be more precise I work with the National Library of Medicine (NLM) the biggest library of genre. I am going the visit the library soon but for the moment I still need some time to settle here in Washington DC and of course celebrate Easter.
P.S.: I still do not know either Christmas or Easter is more important in the christianity. However, I will have a complete weekend to solve this issue, though I think Christmas! No, it is rather a chicken-egg problem!
Ex-presidential stupidity has no limits

Instead of resigning, and turning the page, Mr. Pal Schmitt, the ex-president of Hungary can not stand the fact that his doctor title was revoked due some 200 pages of plagiarism out of his 215 pages thesis by the Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary and right now he is planning to attack the decision of the university's Senate in court.
Lets make it clear. He cheated, he copied, he committed plagiarism, he lied about this fact several times and now he wants a lawsuit against such an obvious and right decision? I think he did a right decision when he announced his resignation in the Hungarian Parliament but this shows that this was the only one. It seems the ex-presidential stupidity has no limits!
P.S. I would suggest to the ex-president to (re)-think about this lawsuit issue and he should rather retire and write his memoirs. I suggest a complete chapter on how he copied his entire doctoral thesis from some Bulgarian sport diplomat and a German professor Klauss Heinemann. I think it will be a bestseller! If there is no more reputation, at least he could get some money out of such a book. However, we live in a democratic country and even stupidity is tolerated.
No more plagiarism! Lets talk America! One week ago I landed in this New World. Of course some 3h delay at Dusseldorf International Airport due some technical problem, but I finally managed. Some nice friend waited me at Dulles International Airport and late night I arrived in Washington D.C., more precisely in Chevy Chase, MD.
It is not my first time in US, however, I was impressed. Somehow Washington D.C. and the metropolitan area is a huge forest, with houses, monuments, trails, tracks, the Potomac and Americans. Everything is big! I mean really big! The cars, the streets, the parking lots, the shops, and everything.
I visited also Washington downtown: White House, U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian, U.S. Supreme Court, Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery, Washington Monument, the cherry blossom, etc. Amazing. It is exactly like in those US movies which we can get back in Europe. Of course the White House seems to be bigger and whiter on the movies (grace to Photoshop!) but the rest is really authentic.
I liked them a lot, and once I have the time I will be back to explore more in details all these institutes, monuments and museums. However, I think I was most impressed by the Arlington Cemetery. All those graveyards lining up like some soldiers is fantastic. I witnessed even a burial ceremony, with those soldiers lining up at the coffin of their comrade and giving him/her the final respect and honor. Really impressive I can tell! Those fires and the flag is something which each American soldier could wish once he finished his earthy mission. It was really something wich deeply touched me!
P.S. I will spend some time in Washington, and I hope to explore all know and unknown details of this lovely capital! Some first shots can be seen here!

Megprobalok szepen fogalmazni, de neha az igazsagot nem lehet es kell szepiteni. A plagium az plagium es folottebb becstelen. Es ha meg tagadjak, akkor meg inkabb az! Kivancsi vagyok most ok mit mondanak? Mert hat kiderult, hogy loptak, csaltak es hazudtak a legmagasabb szinten es mindezt tuzon-vizen at vedtek. Ma mar nem kell vedeni? Nagyon szellemes mindket jelzo es dicseret erte a cikk ironak!
Ui. Nem szabad feledni, hogy ez a mai lemondas igencsak emberi erofeszitest igenyelt, es ezert mindent tisztelet megilleti a volt elnok urat, es orvendek, hogy vegul is nem a politikai erdekekre, hanem egyedul a lelkiismeretere hallgatott, es meghozta a nemzet szamara a legjobb dontest. Voltak erdemei es olyan torvenyeket ellenjegyzett [igaz hamisan, lasd doktori cim], melyek a nemzet es a kozjo erdekeit szolgaljak. Koszonjuk Schmitt Pal urnak, hogy 2010-2012 kozott Magyarorszag elnoki tisztseget toltotte be!
Nem tudok hinni a szememnek es a fulemnek. Kiderul, hogy S. P. doktori dolgozata aljas masolas es plagium, es ma ez mit sem szamit Magyarorszagon. Es fura modon mindezt oly emberek mondjak, kik jobboldali ertekeket vallanak?! Valami nem ertek? A becsulet, az igazsag, a tisztelet ma mar nem ertek?
Egy vilag rajtunk nevet, es sejtem minden EU csucson azt fogjak kuncogni, hogy "lam a masolo elnok", "a lopott, csalassal szerzett magyar (al)-tudos", es a listanak sejtem csak emberi mivoltuk es udvariassaguk szab majd hatart, es minket ez az ember kepvisel ember es Isten szine elott. Ne! Engem ne kepviseljen egy ilyen aljas hazugsaggal szerzett "doktor". Kerem engem ne kepviseljen!
Elbujni a "serthetetlenseg" moge? Ez az ember es hordaja akar engem kepviselni? Nem! Engem kerem ily emberek ne kepviseljenek! Fura modon az aljas hazugsagot masok hazugsagaival akarjak feledtetni. Oda jutnak, hogy meghazudtoljak onmagukat, ertekeiket a "szent cel" erdekeben. Nem, ez nem az a Magyarorszag ahol elni szeretnek! Ez nem az en Magyarorszagom.
En ott szeretnek elni ahol a magyar tudost elismerik, megbecsulik es felneznek ra. Sajna a mai Magyarorszag politikai elitje kepes barmit megtenni annak erdekeben, hogy a lopassal, csalassal megszerzett "elnok doktor" hatalmon maradhasson, es jatsza babszerepet egy olyan vezetes elen, mely felrug minden kereszteny erteket es rendet. Meg arra is kepesek, hogy sajat tarsukat (lasd Szalma Botond) kitagadjak, a Semmelweis Egyetem Rektora kepes lemondani, azert mert ervekre es lelkiismertukre hallgatva megvontak a doktori cimet, illetve kertek a lemondast, es a csalo, az aljas masolo mindezt csak a "tudomany tevedes"-enek tartja.
Tisztelt Schmitt Pal, a tudomany sosem teved! A tevedes mindig emberi, es a felelosseg ont terheli egyedul! A masik dolgozat amit (esetleg) "irni" (LOL) fog, legyen az barmely tudomanyos ertekkel biro munka, szememben egy fabatkat sem fog erni, mert onnek nincs tobbe hitele a magyar tarsadalom elott! Egy hazug, csalo, tolvaj, plagizalo szemely nem allhat Magyaroszag elen sem ma sem holnap sem soha!
Nem, egyszeruen csak nem allhat, es bizom Istenben, hogy nem hagyja, hogy Magyarorszagot ily emberek vezessek!
Szomoru. Nem volt ketseges szamomra, hogy masolas volt, leven, hogy van egy-ket ev francia a hatam mogott, de hat vartam, hogy nalam sokkal illetekesebb szemelyek mondjanak velemenyt es [sajna] mondtak. Nem is keveset. A S. P. dolgozatanak tobb, mint 90% egyszeru plagium, annyi elteressel, hogy a szoveg atesett egy eleg primitiv francia-magyar forditason, de ez nem tevesztette meg sem a tenyfeltaro bizottsagot sem engem. Igen, kiderult, hogy Magyarorszag elso kozjogi meltosaga masolta (!) a dolgozatat (215 oldalbol kb. 200 oldalt) es igy jogtalanul szerzett es hasznalt doktori cimet ennyi even keresztul. Szoval ma Magyarorszagon egy csalo, masolo irja ala a torvenyeket ... Es sajna nem egy torveny orzi meg majd nevet!
Mig mas orszagokat is ert ilyen dolog, lasd a nemreg elhiresedett zu Guttenberg esetet, aki szinten masolta a dolgozatat, es ezert le is mondott, es eltunt nehany honapra Amerikaban, de nalunk elnoki szintre emeltuk a csalast, a masolast, a plagiumot. Ami meg ennel is szomorubb, hogy mindvegig tagadtak a masolas tenyet, pedig teljes mertekig vilagos volt a hozzaertok szamara. Roviden, ma Magyarorszagnak oly elnoke van aki csal, hazudik, eltitkolja az igazsagot es jogtalanul hasznal(t) tudomanyos fokozatot. Es ami adja a dolog tragi-komikus voltat, hogy az egyetemet hibaztatjak, hogy nem szolt, hogy a dolgozat masolas. Szoval a tisztelt nebulo, annak ellenere, hogy tudta es tudataban volt, hogy munkassaga nem egyeb, mint aljas masolas, nem tartja magat felelosnek, es a doktori cim visszavonasanak voltat is megkerdojelezi. Ide jutottunk ma Magyaroszagon?
Ketsegtelen, fura a korulmeny, es sejtem, hogy politikai indittatas van mogotte, de ez most mellekes. Itt egy eszmerol van szo, egy tudomanyos fokozatrol, egy kozjogi meltosagrol es Magyaorszagrol! Lemondasrol szo sem lehet, ahogy hallottuk S. P. nyilatkozatat, ami azt mutatja, hogy ma Magyaroszagon elhatalmasodott az igazsagtalansag, a becstelenseg, az aljassag, a hazugsag, a csalas es mindezert senki nem felel. Most mar kezdem erteni, hogy miert mondtak egykoron francia kollegaim, hogy Europa Ausztrianal er veget!
Ugy ertekelem, hogy ez a fajta magatartas biztositja azt, hogy ma Magyarorszag arcul csapta a demokraciat es a jogallamisag legalapvetobb formait sem vagyunk kepesek betartani es bizony ujra es ujra raszolgalunk a primitiv jelzore, mely most igencsak megillet sokakat.
Ui. Nagyon sajnalom, hogy ily jellegu bejegyzessel kell inditanom az amerikai letemet, de egyre inkabb meggyozodom arrol, hogy Magyarorszag nem az a hely, ahol szeretnek elni! Ez nem demokracia, ez nem jogallam, ez nem Europa!

It is exactly my situation. Very soon I have to close one door and I have to open another one. Of course there are some external aspects as well, but it is rather an inner problem. Probably once you are familiar with such changes it is not an issue anymore, however there are some things to whom you should say goodbye. Friends, colleagues, places, work, habits, etc. I almost forgot: the plants. I kind of like them and I hope they like me too, I mean the plants.
There is always a feeling of emptiness. Of course this will be filled with those new things once you open the new door but this in-between situation is kind of awkward.
Letting go is probably the hardest thing to do.
Valahogy ez igy volt. Mi kertuk es "OK" adtak (kenyszerbol). Marmint kozvetve, mert az RMDSZ leven, hogy a merleg nyelvet adja, most azt csinal a PDL-vel amit eppen akar. Es kijatszodtak az elonyuket, joggal es okosan. Fohajtas jar erte, de megint ki kell hangsulyozni, hogy nem az RMDSZ erdeme vagy valamely vezetojeje. Ezt kellett volna tennie minden magyar eloljaronak. Ezert valasztottuk oket!
Az fura, hogy kormanyhatarozatot kellett hozni, ami azt mutatja, hogy nagyon torekeny a dolog, es ahogy az ellenzek kifejtette, nagy a valoszinusege, hogy vissza is fogjak csinalni, mar amint hatalomra kerulnek. Es van ra eselyuk. Es ha elsopro tobbsegben nyernek (?), akkor mar nem fog menni ez a merleg nyelve dolog, es akkor volt sok huho semmiert.
Kell ez nekunk? Igen, kell, mert kulonben sosem jutunk semmire, hisz az Egyetemi Szenatus roman tobbsege minden magyar torekvest csirajaba folyt, es eselytelen lesz torekveseinknek helyt adni. Jogos? Nem tudom megitelni, de az az erzesem, hogy az egyetemi autonomiat megsertette a kormany hatarozat, de ha rajtuk mulott volna, akkor sosem lett volna multikulturalis egyetem Marosvasarhelyen. Esik a szinvonal? Szerintem igen, de jo volna ha valaki megcafolna.
Az biztos, hogy [csak] igy van eselyunk arra, hogy magyar taneroket neveljunk ki, es segitsunk abban, hogy jo szakembereket hagyjunk az utokornak, sorsunkrol magunk dontsunk, de ez nem lehet kibuvo arra, hogy ne beszeljunk romanul, mert egy orvos nem magyar vagy roman, hanem elsosorban szakember. A beteg legyen az roman, magyar, cigany, stb tudnunk kell vele lehetoleg anyanyelven beszelni, de az orszag hivatalos nyelven mindenkeppen.
Ui. Erdemes elgondolkodni, hogy hova sullyedt a PDL, ha ilyen merteku kerest volt hajlando teljesiteni annak fejeben, hogy maradhasson hatalmon?
Si desi [poate] s-a dorit, nici pe departe nu s-a ajuns la maretia si grandoarea cu care Majestatea Sa Regele Mihai a fost sarbatorit la implinirea varstei de 90 de ani, Ion Iliescu a fost si el aniversat la inaintata varsta de 82 de ani.
Mostenirea lasata? 10 ani de mandat prezidential si o tara framantata. Desi am pornit pe calea modernizarii si asa numitei democratii, FSN (Frontul Salvarii Nationale), PDSR (Partidul Democratiei Sociale din Romania) sau mai nou PSD (Partidul Social Democrat) au fost piedici uriase in calea adevaratelor reforme. Iar la capitolul democratie chiar stau rau baietii!
Sa nu uitam, Iliescu a fost omul care in primele zile ale revolutie din '89 a preluat puterea fara alegeri. El a fost care s-a convertit peste noapte din nomenclaturist in democrat si patriot. Sa nu uitam ca Regele Mihai nu a putut vizita Romania pana in 1992 (dupa care tot acelasi Iliescu nu i-a permis sa revina in tara pentru 5 ani consecutivi, fiind ingrijorat de populariatatea imensa a regelui), si a primit pasaport romanesc in 1997, doar in timpul lui Emil Constantinescu, si sa nu uitam de mineriade care ne-au intors cu 100 de ani pe calea democratiei. Da, acesta este omul Ion Iliescu! Ecce homo!
P.S. Daca ar fi existat legea lustratiei, istoria ne-ar fi scutit de un asemenea personaj la carma Romaniei. Din pacate acest lucru nu s-a dorit, caci cei multi care au profitat si inca mai profita ar fi fost si sunt vizati de aceasta lege.
